Position Summary:
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Virtual Mental Health Therapist Interns to join our Inner Light Project, a global initiative designed to support individuals facing mental health challenges. This position is ideal for students currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
As an intern, you will gain hands-on experience providing virtual support through an online mental health app, helping individuals worldwide navigate issues such as depression, anxiety, grief, trauma, relationships, family dynamics, finances, and more. Under the guidance of a state-approved licensed clinician, you will develop your therapeutic skills, engage with diverse populations, and make a meaningful impact in the lives of others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in facilitating online discussions and providing guidance on mental health topics.
- Actively participate in therapeutic processes while maintaining professional boundaries.
- Provide coping skills, activities, and therapeutic strategies to individuals in need.
- Develop rapport with participants to create a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment.
- Attend weekly supervision sessions for feedback, professional development, and support.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical guidelines in all online interactions.
- Identify and report any red flags to the direct licensed supervisor as needed.
Requirements:
- Must be currently enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s program in counseling, psychology, social work, or a related field.
- Commitment to the program schedule, beginning April 2nd, 2025.
- Passion for mental health advocacy and supporting diverse communities.
- Strong communication, empathy, and active listening skills.
- Willingness to learn, grow, and receive mentorship under professional supervision.
- Experience in verbal de-escalation is preferred but not required.
